Ayalas wooing Camposes

Greenfield Development Corp., the property unit of the Campos family, said yesterday that the Ayala group has offered to jointly develop its 10.5-hectare mixed-used development project in Mandaluyong City.

Greenfield chairman and chief executive Jeffrey Campos told reporters during the launching of the Greenfield District located near the corner of Shaw Boulevard and Edsa that the Ayala group wanted to join the company in constructing the residential and commercial components of the project.

Campos, however, said Greenfield preferred to develop the residential and commercial component of the project on its own and would instead seek a joint venture partnership in office buildings.

“The Ayalas want to come in and wanted to do the residential and commercial development of the district. But we decided that we want to this in our own. But we’re not closing our doors,” Campos said.

Greenfield plans to build at least 30 buildings in the project, which is near the complex of United Laboratories Inc., including residential towers, shopping mall and office buildings.

It is initially developing a residential condominium called Twin Oaks Place. The first of the twin-tower development will break ground next year.

Campos said Greenfield was in talks with Cisco, a world leader in networking solutions, to help the company map out a technology plan for Greenfield District.

“We are making Greenfield District and Twin Oaks ‘future ready’—meaning [with] basic digital infrastructure to allow our customers the opportunity to integrate and use future equipment in their homes,” the company said.

Greenfield said sales for the first tower were doing well after started pre-selling activities only in August.

“We hope to sell out by the first quarter of 2010 so we can already begin selling the next tower,” the company said.

Other projects of the company are the 20-hectare Hillsborough project in Muntinlupa, 100-hectare property in Mamplasan, 300-hectare land in Greenfield City Sta. Rosa and a 25-hectare lot in Mapagong in Calamba, Laguna.

Founded in 1971, Greenfield began as a landholding company with vast tracts of land in its portfolio.
